Phototheque will collect, preserve, study, exhibit, and stimulate appreciation for the Art of Photography -that represent the broadest spectrum of human achievement at the highest level of quality-, among all residents of Miami-Dade County, all in the service of the public and in accordance with the highest professional standards. Phototheque Program achieves its mission through the individual attention to the needs and aspirations of all its permanent members, a cultural policy that nurtures commitment to our County community; and the participation of a professional team that values diversity, promotes creative thinking, and encourages ethical behavior.
Phototheque is dedicated to research and promote Photography. We pride ourselves in the daily contribution to individual and community well being. We believe that by sharing common values and encourage education we can increase the opportunities of each individual who lives or works in Miami Dade and nearby.
After two years of operating solely on funds donated by private supporters, Phototheque begun pursuing public and private grant funding in 2014 and is currently expanding its budget and operational capacity thanks to this development. Phototheque is currently run by two part-time staff persons, both working on a volunteer basis, and a full time Art Director.
The organization is also expanding economically and solidifying its fiscal stability through a new membership drive, yearly fundraising events, festival submission fees, and the provision of contracted services for other non-profit organizations. Phototheque is currently in the process of looking for a bigger, more visible space. Its collection has expanded widely over the years, and now includes curated exhibitions of artists from all over Latin America and one exhibition yearly devoted specifically to the work of Latina women.
